Quick to take offense, Jackson was known for his sudden flashes of rage and propensity for dueling. His time in office was characterized by an opposition to institutions, dismantling the Second Bank of the United States, and signing the Indian Removal act and Trail of Tears relocation of Native American tribes to western lands.
