A Salute to Louis Armstrong

Join conductor, performer, researcher, teacher, and technician Joshua E. Long, PhD of Art & Music Emporium, Inc. for the lecture “A Salute to Satchmo, Jazz Trumpet and Vocal Improviser Louis Armstrong.” The presentation will focus on the life of Louis Armstrong, his music, performances, tours, and so on. The presentation will also take a large dive into Armstrong’s inventive trumpet and cornet performing, which shifted the focus of collective improvisation to solo performance. The rest of the presentation will illustrate Armstrong’s adored joyful image on and off stage as he was known to highly interact with the audience through joking during performances. Also, quickly identified for his rich, deep, raspy voice, Armstrong was a skillful scat singer and collectively with this trumpet musicianship, he appeared regularly on radio, film, and televisions broadcasts and was acknowledged as an international musical icon.
